Summary:
Great-sounding, reasonably-priced microphone, purpose-built for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad, with few downsides.

The iRig mic [Amazon.com] was introduced a short while ago, and promises to be one of the best ways to get sound from your mouth or instrument into the iPhone 4, iPod Touch or iPad/iPad 2.

Announcing Catholic Car Wash - a Video Podcast. In a Car.

Catholic Car Wash - Logo ThumbnailA week or so ago, I was in a car wash, trying to think of something productive to do. Prayer was out, because I didn't think it would be as easy to connect with God through a wall of high-pressure water. So, I did the next best thing... I whipped out my iPhone, pointed the camera at yours truly, and hit record. What resulted was Catholic Car Wash.

In each episode of the podcast, I will be talking about a small bit of the wonderful Catholic faith—whether it be a Catholic practice, a part of Holy Mass, or some other crazy thing I want to share about the faith. Check out the first two episodes:

One of the things that excites me most about this podcast (besides the fact that I now have something to do while sitting in my car in a car wash) is the fact that everything is posted using the HTML5 <video> element, rather than using Adobe Flash. This means the podcast can be viewed in iTunes, on an iPhone, on an iPad, in Safari, Chrome, FireFox, and IE (using Flash still, sadly). I'll be writing up a little more on how I got this all to work together soon, probably on Open Source Catholic.

About Catholic Car Wash

Catholic Car Wash is a video podcast started in 2010 by myself, Jeff Geerling, just before the start of CNMC MMX. This podcast focuses on small snippets of Catholic teaching, and typically lasts less than 3 minutes (the length of a car wash).
