Situated just in front of the St. Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis gallantly rides his horse on into the large expanse of Forest Park, facing towards the north.
The picture is nice, but the statue doesn't feature Louis XIV but, of course, saint Louis IX… I visited St. Louis (Mo) in August 2000. And I still feel nostalgic – I would even say that I feel homesickness – of this nice city and it's wonderful people.

Laclede named his town to honor Louis XV whose patron saint was Saint Louis IX. The Louisiana Territory was named after Louis XIV and sold to the United States by Napoleon. Louisville [for example Kentucky] was named for Louis XVI.
My question remains as to the name of his horse.

Yikes! Sorry about that - I updated the title.

I have no idea, and haven't ever had that bit of information cross my path :(
