Kenrick-Glennon Seminary will be holding an Open House on Sunday, November 13 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. During this time, anyone is invited to come and visit with future priests and take a tour of the Seminary, learning more about the building, the students and the experience of seminary life along the way.
And, as a special bonus, there are refreshments for people who may be interested!
On that Sunday, the Kenrick-Glennon Lions soccer team will be playing on the soccer field behind the seminary; be sure to stop by to cheer on your favorite Seminarian soccer team while you're at the seminary!
Today I posted pictures from yesterday's Pro-Life Convention in the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown St. Louis. The keynote speaker was Jim Caviezel (the actor who played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ), with his wife, Kerry, introducing him. Among many other great lecturers, Rev. Eugene Morris and Rev. Edward Richard (both on the faculty at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary) were presenting well-attended and interesting workshops. It was a very inspiring day, and many youth were present at the filled-to-capacity luncheon in the hotel's ballroom and the workshops thereafter.
Jim Caveizel later travelled with Archbishop Burke to the Seminary to speak to seminarians and faculty. Things that he spoke of made me want to pray more, to attend Mass more fervently and to grow closer to Christ and Mary.
Some people are naysaying Apple for their latest product announcements. I am not one of those people.
Apple just released a new series of iMac G5s today; some of the amazing new features include: a built-in high-resolution video camera, built in infrared and wireless remote for controlling digital media applications (with audio line out and VGA, S-Video or composite-video out for connection to a larger display or TV), some cool new software, and a heckuva lot of processing power (both the G5 CPUs — 1.9 or 2.1 GHz — and the hefty 128MB PCI-E video card!). It also comes with (built-in) a 17 or 20" LCD display, a mighty mouse, a keyboard, etc. etc.
Bottom line: If you go to Dell's website, max out pretty much every option you can, and pay about $3,000, you'd get a computer that came close to being as good as the iMac (but the iMac only costs $1299 or $1599, and is cheaper for educational customers). This computer is amazing! If I had some money, I'd probably sell my iBook and get the iMac as soon as I possibly could.
In other news, Apple is now making a video capable iPod, and iTunes has been updated to 6.0; big whoop-de-doo, I say. I don't think the video iPod is ready for the world yet... but that's just my opinion. I'm sure a bunch of people will buy them anyway.
This morning, in reading through some news stories, I noticed that Apple will be holding a special conference today to present some sort of new product. Rumor sites are speculating that the new device will be a long-awaited 'Video iPod.' This would be pretty nice, but I still think that the time is not ripe for portable video players... Perhaps it will be something else entirely, though.
In other news, my Mom is feeling better, but still asks for prayers (if you can spare a few). I know that amidst all the recent natural disasters (the two hurricanes, the earthquake in Pakistan, and the earlier tsunami), there are many people to pray for! Perhaps this is an opportunity God is placing in front of us as a human community to show our love for one another by prayer, support and solidarity.
